Is it possible to install a different overlay?

Hi, I have recently installed an Xtrons car stereo running Android KitKat 4.4, there are a few annoying issues with it like when it boots up its always automatically starts on a static channel, the time resets back to 00:00 every time I turn the car off and a few other minor things. Anyway, I was wondering if there is a way to install a different overlay of Android like you can on a phone, or are there any decent ones out there?
